Park Manor Care has been a landmark for the residents of Transcona for over 48 years, originally providing compassionate care to the elderly and infirm. We have an established reputation of exemplary care that extends outside the boundaries of this community.
We are a non-profit facility operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which considers the health message an important part of their faith. One of the better known healthcare practitioners was Dr. J. Harvey Kellogg, the inventor of Corn Flakes and peanut butter. The Seventh-day Adventist Church sponsors healthcare institutions around the world. More than forty years ago following the establishment of an acute care center in Toronto, provincial and city officials were approached about establishing a Seventh-day Adventist health care facility in the City of Winnipeg.
In 1967, Park Manor Personal Care Home opened the doors to it’s then “state of the art” facility and began to serve the community of Transcona.
We have a large core group of long-term employees made up of many staff from the community who know the residents and their families personally. These loyal staff members follow Park Manor’s mission: Offering love, peace, compassion, hope and empowerment…to CARE as Christ does.”
Park Manor is a 100 bed facility with a large percentage of shared rooms with 44 private rooms, 20 semi-private rooms and 4 four-bed rooms. Only 22 of the 100 beds are completely private including their own washrooms.
Park Manor has about 170 staff members, 135 volunteers and almost all are residents of Transcona. We have an Adult Day Program which serves 55 members of the community. A Meals On Wheels program provided to the community serves 25 meals per day, 5 days a week.
Park Manor Care is adjacent to and operates East Park Lodge, an affordable senior’s housing complex. East Park Lodge has 55 one and 5 two bedroom suites, offering meals in Park Manor’s dining room and emergency medical assistance if required. The lodge has a call-bell system which immediately notifies the nurse in charge at Park Manor of a medical emergency and someone is immediately dispatched to the tenant’s suite as needed.
