The Future of Park Manor Personal Care Home
Park Manor Personal Care Home has been considering redevelopment options for the last number of years; driven by the need to ensure that the residents of Transcona and the surrounding area receive quality personal care home services. We at Park Manor are committed to continue providing these services.
With the Manitoba Government's "Ageing in Place" strategy and it's initiatives to renovate shared spaces and add supportive and assisted living spaces, we feel that the time is ideal to move forward with replacement of Park Manor and a conversion of the existing Park Manor space.
Park Manor has 100 beds - 20 semi-private rooms, 4 four-bed wards and 22 private rooms that share washrooms; only 22 of the 100 beds are completely private including their own washroom.
The new "state of the art" facility with all 100-140 beds being in private rooms with their own washrooms. Each wing of the new building will have 20 beds and will have its own dining room accommodations and ample recreation spaces. The main floor will boast a chapel with the capability of holding funeral services in the facility.
We have commissioned Stantec to do the architectural renderings of the new facility. They have many years of experience dealing with strategic planning, feasibility studies, master plans and design concepts covering all key architectural sectors. In particular, they has been responsible for major projects in Healthcare, Education, Transportation, Cultural, Research and Corporate environments, providing strong leadership, communication, planning, and design skills.
The cost of the new Park Manor Personal Care Home will be approximately $25 million with $5-7 million being Park Manor's contribution to the project.
We have chosen the Pink Flamingo as the appropriate mascot for this endeavor.
